The Saarinen Foundation’s mission is to promote the awareness and education of Art in Architecture, by underscoring the fundamental tenants of Eliel Saarinen’s life work and educational philosophy: advancing his intent to accept that each work must be non-imitative and forward thinking in order to be considered a work of art. Through the production of world class documentary films and other unique, advanced educational materials, The Saarinen Foundation will present the life work of Eliel Saarinen and other contemporary 20th Century architects. All documentary films will include a thorough Study Guide appropriate for any Undergraduate/ Graduate Course Curriculum concerning Architecture. The Study Guides will parallel the buildings covered in the documentary films and provide additional visual aids for students to allow a thorough understanding of these important structures.
The Saarinen Foundation will also be able to access the original plan drawings of Eliel and Eero Saarinen (and any other featured architect that makes those use-rights available to the Foundation). The Saarinen Foundation will enter our finished documentaries in Film Festivals globally and seek a distribution deal with TV Networks, Cable Networks and Streaming Video Services. The expressed intention of The Saarinen Foundation is to globally market, and make available to Universities these architecture themed documentary films and accompanying course curriculum Study Guides.
The ultimate goal for all revenue raised by the sale and distribution of any of the Curriculum Study Guides will be to fund and make available an Undergraduate Architecture Scholarship in the name of The Saarinen Foundation.
